My friend was given some TESCO PLC ORDINARY 5P Shares (in her name) in approx. 1986 which she receives small dividends from once a year (not much!!). She has heard that the share prices are very good at the present time, and is considering selling them. Can anyone tell me (her) what the present value per share is today; it must be worth more than 5p,and if they are worth selling – she has approx. 200. Also, how does she go about selling them without getting ripped off as to “brokerage fees?”. Thank you.

go to a business web page like yahoo finance or the same.
check the stock price and company details. contact the company directly and see if they have a stock buyback program to avoid a brokerage office. also check your friend’s account brokerage (where the stocks are held) and see if they will sell it for her on the cheap. otherwise find a discount broker who could sell it for nominal cost. a company like Scottrade (US) would sell it for about $7-12 dollars US if it were a US stock and u had an account there.

it looks like it is at about 415 currently.

she can try sell by online trade…it avoid brokerage fees…
in the shares, we must set target once we earn minimum 10% to 30% or more, we should release it, don’t high expect the price will keep increase because it might drop anytime.
